If you've always wondered what lies beneath the surface, now's the time to find out. Start the journey of a lifetime with the NASE Open Water Diver course. It will change you forever. As a certified Open Water Diver, you have the freedom to dive with a buddy independent of a professional.

In the Open Water Diver course, your Instructor takes you through the basics of learning how to scuba dive. You start in a pool or pool-like conditions and progress to the open water (ocean, lake, quarry, etc.) getting the background knowledge along the way.

Virtually anyone who is in good health, reasonably fit, and comfortable in the water can earn a Open Water Diver certification. Throughout the course, you'll learn fundamentals of scuba diving, including dive equipment and techniques. You earn this rating by completing five pool dives and knowledge development sessions and by making four open water (ocean or lake) dives.

All programs are performance based. You proceed as you demonstrate mastery of the course skills. This allows you to work at a pace that is comfortable for you.

You must be older than the age of 14 to begin the
Open Water Diver program. If you are between 10 and 14 or have a child between these ages, there is a Junior Open Water Diver program available.

    * A Jr Open Water Diver between the ages of 10 and 11 years may only dive with a professional, a certified parent or certified guardian to a maximum depth of 12 meters / 40 feet.

The Bubble maker program is for boys and girls age 8 and above. It's fun, easy and safe. The Bubble maker program is a way for youngsters to join in the family fun of scuba diving or even start a trend! Children should be OK in the water, but they don't have to be super swimmers since the maximum depth is only 2m/6 ft.

    * For children eight years and older who want to have fun in the pool

    * Also available as an open water experience (two meter / six foot max. depth)

    * Conducted by PADI/NASE Instructors

    * No pre-training required

    * Uses equipment made for children – not adults

    * Typical sessions last about an hour (sign up, gear up and fun included)
